how do i communicate effectively with friends, lecturers and my family members

Communicate eye to eye

Eye contact establishes rapport, helps to convince that you're trustworthy, and displays interest. During a conversation or presentation, it is important to look into the other person's eyes if possible and maintain contact for a reasonable amount of time

Use facial expressions consciously

Aim to reflect passion and generate empathy with the listener by using soft, gentle, and aware facial expressions. Avoid negative facial expressions, such as frowns or raised eyebrows. What is or isn't negative is dependent on the context, including cultural context, so be guided by your situation. Be alert for unexpected behaviour that suggests you're cross-culturally colliding, such as a clenched fist, a slouched posture, or even silence. If you don't know the culture, ask questions about communication challenges before you start to speak with people in their cultural context.
how do I overcome nervousness

Be prepared

If you have a presentation then study your notes and what you are about to say carefully before stepping up on stage. If you have an important meeting, do your homework so you know what will or may come up in meeting.

Doing this carefully and meticulously can remove a lot of nervousness. It may not always be fun. But being well prepared can be helpful not only to remove nervousness but also to ace the presentation or get the job.

Practice

The more you practise, take action and put yourself in situations that may make you nervous the more confident you become. You have been there before; you know pretty much what will happen. So you feel more and more comfortable and less nervous.

How did I adapt with the new environment at the college

Communicate with others

Communications is always important, but especially so when you face change. A lack of communications from others can have a negative impact, while effective communications can have a positive one. From a purely pragmatic standpoint, you need details about the change, so that you can determine how it affects you. Don’t just sit back and wait for things to happen.

Part of the fear of change involves dealing with the unknown. If possible, try to minimize this factor by talking to others who have undergone such a change.
Your communications should involve more than just people like your friends and lecturer. You should involve people in other college as well. They might have experienced the same change, so their advice has value.

Make Friends

Making friends might not always be easy. It actually depends on the culture of the organization and on your own personality.

If you have a shy personality, then you need to sharpen your people skills to actually get along. Be friendly, smile as much as you can even to people who you don't know and initiate discussions about interesting topics.

If you find resistance then stop trying too hard. Give it a break and mind your own business until your colleagues approach you.
